Living Room Inspiration

Last month I found this room by interior designer Amanda Nisbet posted on House of Turquoise. Wow! I literally looked at it every day for weeks.

I think the Chicago winter is getting to me, because I love the use of bright turquoise, blue, yellow, and orange on a neutral beige background. I'm aiming for the happy but not-too-bold feel of this room in my apartment.

I think I have too much dark brown in my own living room for it to ever feel this airy, but I'll give it a good shot. I like the near-symmetry and her repetition of fabrics and furniture pieces, even between the living room and dining room. Does this house give you any good ideas?

New Member of the Family

My husband and I decided to spend the afternoon on Valentine’s Day getting our first pet. At the pet store, we picked out a beautiful betta fish and a nice plant and some gravel for him. He’s red and turquoise, one of my favorite color combinations right now. He really shines in the sunlight. We decided to play off the alphabet theme in naming him.
Introducing Romeo the Delta Betta!

Romeo lives on top of the TV armoire. He’s very lively for a betta, and we think he’s happy!

We love him.

Polar Bear Cookies

A new blog calls for…cookies! I baked a batch of sugar cookies shaped like polar bears and sprinkled with white sugar. Aren’t they adorable?!

I received this cute polar bear cookie cutter along with my membership to the Alaska Wilderness League for Christmas (thanks Grammie and Granddad!).
